Job Description
Under close supervision of a Senior Engineer, Water Resources and in a trainee capacity in the Floodplain Assistance Unit, the Student Assistant (Engineering and Architectural Sciences) will assist various engineers, and technicians with projects and reports. Please see the attached duty statement for specific information. Seeking individual with excellent communication and exercises good judgment. Must work cooperatively with others, detailed orientated, maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance; and work in a courteous and professional manner with staff, the public and other agencies.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: Experience with MS Word, Excel, knowledge of Microsoft computer applications and ArcGIS software is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Major(s) Desired: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering.
All applicants for Student Assistant positions must meet the following department eligibility requirements:
1. Enrolled in nine (9) semester/eight (8) per quarter units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester/four (4) quarter units for graduate students.
2. Achieved a 2.0 grand point average in the most recently completed academic term.
3. Declared a major related to the duties of the advertised position and enrolled in coursework required for that major.
