The incumbent will be responsible for using population and fishery assessment models, developing new models and/or management objectives for stocks that lack them or stocks with emerging issues, assessing California salmon population dynamics through coded-wire tag analysis, and using these tools in support of California’s ocean salmon management processes. Other advanced duties include modernizing tools used in the analysis and management of salmon and CWT data sets, representing the Marine Region and Department on database teams, mentoring project staff, and outreach to and coordination with agency partners and stakeholders.
