Office Support Assistant

Duty Location: McCook, Nebraska

Salary

$39,576 - $51,446 per year

Duties

-Provides secretarial support/services for the Area Office managers and employees.
-Develops and maintains the correspondence management processes, including development and use of specific (or form) paragraphs or letters, correspondence style and format guides and manuals, action officer or suspense controls, and similar matters within the Area Office as well as with outside entities.
-Provides for all aspects of mail operations, including receipt, routing, dispatch, and control of packages, mail, and all other forms of written or printed communications.
-Receives phone calls, greets visitors, safeguards facility, and prepares/reviews correspondence.
-Ensures that timesheets follow Area Office guidelines and policies for the QuickTime program.
-Maintains the files and records for the automated records management program for the Area Office.
-Operates office equipment, including telephones, personal computers, copy machines, fax machines, and postage machines to complete a variety of clerical and office support duties.

You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times will result in removal from the position.

Qualifications

 

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education and/or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume and/or via supporting documents.

GS-05:
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the GS-04 level in the federal service or non-federal equivalent. Specialized experience must include experience in at least four of the following areas: maintaining office calendars or schedules, maintaining a file plan, making travel arrangements, serving as timekeeper for an office, reviewing purchase requests, ordering supplies, greeting customers and offering routine information, answering calls, and/or preparing correspondence for review.
OR
Education: Successful completion of 4 years of education above the high-school level, in any field.
OR
A combination of specialized experience and education, as described above.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
