The State Water Resources Control Board’s Office of Information Management and Analysis has an opening for two Environmental Scientists in the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program Unit. Use your experience and knowledge of aquatic resources and science with your data science skills to transform data into meaningful information that can be used to support decisions for water quality and aquatic resource protection and restoration statewide. Our supportive work environment promotes creativity in adapting solutions towards improving water quality conditions throughout the state. The positions are primarily remote-based and the in office location is based out of Sacramento at 1001 I Street, 19th Floor, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation.

Duties:

This position will provide technical and scientific expertise to support the use and improved understanding of SWAMP data, science, and other related resources for a broad audience, including Water Board staff, management, partner agency staff and management, the public, communities, and Tribes statewide. They will work closely with SWAMP statewide program coordinator leads and data managers to implement core program components with a focus on communication of monitoring and assessment results through various approaches including data science products, webpages, and other communication tools.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.

Salary: $4,145 - $7,926 / month
