The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is looking to hire a student assistant to assists in various projects and performs numerous assignments to ensure the Construction Safety and Insurance Program is conducting business safely and efficiently on a statewide basis and to enhance and strengthen the Construction Division’s safety program, in a learning capacity, and under supervision of the Office Chief who is a Supervising Transportation Engineer and with lead direction from Senior Transportation Engineers (Specialist) and Associate Government Program Analyst in the office.

The student assistant (Engineering and Architectural Sciences) is expected to perform duties while being consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the Construction Division’s safety program. The incumbent is also expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
