Planning Intern

he Town of Moraga values the contributions made by students of all ages and backgrounds and is seeking bright innovative, results-oriented individuals to join our Internship Program. This program has been developed to provide college, university or graduate students with the opportunity to gain both academic and practical experience working in local government. The internships are designed to provide the participants with the opportunity to apply academic skills to various “real world” assignments. Students will have the opportunity to learn about local government and the services they provide.

PLANNING INTERN JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

The Planning Intern will have the opportunity to assist in a variety of tasks and duties involved in day to day operations of the Planning Department. The Planning Department is responsible for overseeing and guiding development in the Town of Moraga.

Typical Duties:

  • Assist staff with Town permit applications, land use and zoning information.
  • Assist staff with reviewing and processing development proposals.
  • Complying with county, state and federal land use and environmental programs and regulations.
  • Provide staff assistance to the Planning Commission, Design Review Board and Town Council.
  • Assist in preparation, maintenance and/or verification of accounting, financial, statistical records, logs, ledgers and files.
  • Conducts research on projects, studies, reports and related information for decision-making process.
  • Perform administrative work such as answering phones, copying, and filing.
  • Performs other related duties as required that may not be specifically listed in the job description but are within the general responsibility level associated with this class.
