Typical starting pay for this position:  $24.90 up to $ 33.47 hourly

SUMMARY: Collects and analyzes biological data by performing field and laboratory work to assess factors that affect inland fisheries resources.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree

36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree

54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major in fisheries science or a related biological science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED  

Experience:

One year of experience in work at a professional level in fisheries research and management. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education at the graduate level only.

License/Certification:

Must possess a valid driver’s license. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the agency.

 

RESPONSIBILTIES:

 Develops and implements regional operational work plans to meet inland fisheries research and management program objectives.

 Coordinates and conducts inland fisheries field investigations that contribute to achieving regional work objectives.

 Analyzes and develops new work methods and procedures for assigned inland fisheries research and management program projects in accordance with established technical, professional and administrative standards.

 Prepares scientific reports that consist of analyzing data, describing results and making recommendations on findings for assigned inland fisheries research and management program projects.

 Supervises subordinate staff, including assigning job duties, providing training, giving instructions and checking work.

 Provides the public with technical assistance related to inland fisheries resources when requested.

 Communicates within the Department, to other agencies, as well as to the general public, with regards to regional inland fisheries research and management programs.
