Essential Functions

The Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion (SLII) in the Division of Student Life & Wellbeing is seeking a Graduate Assistant to assist staff in creating and implementing gender-based violence prevention education and programming during the 2024/ 2025 Academic year. The Healthy Relationships Graduate Assistant will work alongside the Coordinator of Educational Outreach & Special Projects to work towards the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s mission of having all students complete Bystander Intervention Training as part of the Nebraska University System’s Executive Memorandum 44. This position will be responsible for coordination and co-facilitation of prevention education within the Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion including, but not limited to, Bystander Intervention Training, Healthy Relationships Training, and Consent 101 Training. Graduate assistantships are based on academic and/ or professional excellence. Recipients receive tuition remission, a monthly salary, and subsidized health insurance to work approximately 19.6 hours per week on assigned professional responsibilities. Selection criteria will include matching past and current experience with requested skills by staff. This position will further the mission of the institution and division by enhancing the inclusion of all students on campus. Other duties may be assigned by the Coordinator of Educational Outreach & Special Projects or the Executive Director of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion. Responsibilities may include:

Essential Functions:

  • Coordination and co-facilitation of Bystander Intervention Training.
  • Coordination and co-facilitation of Healthy Relationships and Consent 101 Trainings.
  • Data entry after each training to record engagement.
  • Provide updates to the Coordinator of Educational Outreach and Special Projects on overall participation in Bystander Intervention Training.
  • Assist in coordination and execution of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Stalking Awareness Month, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month programming.
  • Meet bi-weekly with the Coordinator of Educational Outreach and Special Projects.
  • Supervision of Peer Education Interns and onboarding of new facilitators for Bystander Intervention, Healthy Relationships, and Consent 101 Trainings.
  • Development and implementation of prevention education and programming.
  • Assist in coordination of leadership and educational programs sponsored by the office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion.
  • Implement and support goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Work Schedule

19.6 hr/week with GA creating their own schedule around programming and trainings, with occasional weekend and evening hours.

Additional Duties

  • Assist in facilitation of Safe Space Training as needed.
  • Assist in the development of partnerships throughout the Division of Student Life & Wellbeing and the greater University of Nebraska at Omaha community.
  • Help students become familiar with the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus resources and services, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Serve as support staff for programs and events hosted by the office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion.

Required Qualifications

  • Current UNO Graduate Student in good standing
  • Able to work in a group setting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Able to make an academic year’s commitment
  • Experience with Public Speaking and/or workshop development and presentations
  • Experience mentoring students, preferably at the collegiate level
  • Knowledge of social media (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook)
