Taxpayer Services Representative 1 (159727)

NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Taxpayer Services Representative Trainee, NS=Grade 9: Thirty semester credit hours; or one year of experience in a position where primary responsibility is providing information concerning and/or explaining programs, policies, and/or procedures; resolving problems; or reconciling accounts.

Taxpayer Services Representative 1, Grade 11: Sixty semester credit hours; or two years of experience in a position where primary responsibility is providing information concerning and/or explaining programs, policies, and/or procedures; resolving problems; or reconciling accounts.

 

These positions may be assigned to any of these tax program areas; Business Tax Bureau, Personal Income Tax Bureau, Registrations, Accounting and Support Bureau and/or Processing and Shared Services Bureau. The incumbent may perform activities including but not limited to the following essential functions:

- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with both internal and external customers, such as taxpayers, tax professionals and software developers.
- Work independently and exercise good judgment in monitoring multiple work assignments with minimal supervisory oversight.
- Access pertinent information from various processing and imaging systems.
- Accurately make adjustments and updates to taxpayer accounts
- Review tax form changes
- Read, understand and apply laws, procedures, rules, regulations and guidelines where clear precedents and detailed direction may or may not exist.
- Research and analyze information received, draw conclusions using sound judgement and make quality decisions and recommendations.
- Perform with the highest level of integrity, acting within the department’s code of conduct, state ethics laws and department policies.
- Adhere to the Department’s time and attendance rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates acceptable knowledge and skill in the use of prescribed software, department systems, and other tools to effectively complete assignments.
- Demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, a strong work ethic, a commitment to the success of assignments, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
