The State Water Board’s Office of Public Participation invites qualified candidates to apply for the Staff Services Manager I position.

The position can be based in one of two offices: in the heart of Downtown Sacramento, at 1001 I Street, 13th floor, or in our Fresno office, at 1685 E Street.

This role entails directly supervising staff and overseeing a spectrum of public participation activities crucial to State and Regional Water Boards' initiatives. From managing bilingual engagement for the SAFER Drinking Water Program to addressing environmental justice concerns, racial equity, and Native American tribal relations, you will lead a team, ensuring adherence to agency policies while fostering individual growth and teamwork dynamics.

 

Duties:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Office of Public Participation (OPP), the Staff Services Manager I (Supervisor) directly supervises a staff of four (4) and oversees various public outreach initiatives pertaining to State and Regional Water Boards public participation activities, such as the Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience (SAFER) drinking water program, language access services, environmental justice (EJ) issues, Native American tribal relations, and more.

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
