URBAN PLANNER (junior to mid-level)

POSITION 

We are looking for a creative and passionate urban planner to be a team member on ongoing assignments. The position will involve conducting research and analysis, writing reports and plans, and assisting with community outreach and project coordination. Ideal candidates will have exposure to California planning practice and geographic familiarity with the state, and background/interest in one or more of the following areas: 

  • Land use planning
  • Sustainability and climate resiliency
  • Environmental planning/CEQA

Candidates must have:

  • Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills
  • An orientation to detail and excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal communication skills and an ability to work in teams
  • Graduate degree in planning or closely related field

Familiarity with the Adobe Suite (including InDesign) is desirable. 

Hiring level for the position is open. We welcome recent master’s degree graduates with some previous planning experience as well as those with several years of experience. 

Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel occasionally. 

This is a hybrid WFH/office position. A successful candidate must be based in or willing to relocate to the Bay Area, and work part of the week in office. 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Expected starting salary range $75,000, inclusive of bonus (recent master’s graduate with some previous planning experience) to $95,000 (graduate degree and three years of experience), plus additional benefits. A higher salary is available for more experienced candidates. Benefits include paid vacation and sick leave, health and disability insurance, retirement plan match, and professional development allowance.
