About the Role:

A Software Development Intern will be the brains behind some of Thaddeus’ newest ventures into the software and data science world! The intern will assist in developing various platforms and systems that will change how we interact with our clients and participants, function and collaborate internally, innovate business development, and bring new ideas from all areas. You will assist in application development through the usage of MS PowerApps and Database creation, and should have some knowledge of programming languages, especially Python & Reactive Native.

This role will aid towards creating a more efficient and effective workflow towards handling data throughout the organization. The Intern will learn to proficiently utilize these applications and collaboratively work with others in order to accomplish the Software Committee goals.

The Software Development Intern will receive direct supervision from the Tech Department Manager/Mentor and will get the chance to work in a self-organized team setting in the Tech Department.

This internship is unpaid, but eligible for academic or course credit if approved by your educational institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Be present for weekly All Staff & Department meetings
  • Define, analyze, and manage technical and business requirements throughout the whole project cycle
  • Access and manage files through SharePoint
  • Utilize MS PowerApps and MS Power Automate to assist in creating flows for a more efficiently run organization
  • Participate in our Buddy system once assimilated and act as a mentor/point of contact for new interns transitioning into your team during their induction and onboarding process
  • Perform other assigned duties, as needed

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Capability to code on Python and Reactive Native
  • Ability to work independently with little instructions and a strong attention to details
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Access to appropriate technology, internet connection and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams

Preferred:

  • Pursuing or obtained a graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, etc., and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Strong academic performance in coding classes
  • Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and OneNote, 8x8 Work, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe Acrobat DC)

Learning Objectives:

  • Interns will gain hands-on coding experience.
  • Interns will gain further knowledge of certain applications such as Python, Reactive Native, JavaScript, MS PowerApps, MS Power Automate, and SharePoint.
  • Interns will learn the ongoings of a non-profit and how software can play a role in achieving business goals.

Time Commitment and Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work a minimum of 15  hours per week
  • Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings:
  • Weekly All Staff Meeting: Mondays 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM PST
  • Tech Department Meeting: Fridays 12:00 - 2:00 PM PST
  • Must be able to commit to this 1-year internship
