To accomplish its mission, the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division (MCAH) maintains partnerships, contracts, and agreements with state, federal, and local agencies in both public and private sectors. MCAH hosts an array of programs and initiatives to serve the state's diverse populations and regions providing important resources, information and data about reproductive health, family planning, pregnancy, birth outcomes, child development and more. Programs and initiatives within MCAH are funded by Federal grants and State General Funds.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by increasing health equity and promoting health and wellness. This position provides oversight, monitoring, and support for the California Home Visiting Program (CHVP), a critical program that promotes maternal health and well-being, improves infant and child health, and promotes child development and school readiness. CHVP provides education, screening, referrals, resources and works to strengthen family resilience and promote economic sufficiency during pregnancy through the child’s first few years of life.

The Health Program Specialist (HPS) I is responsible for performing duties in the full journey level capacity including building content expertise, providing technical assistance to local and state partners, supporting content development, implementation, dissemination, and monitoring Scopes of Work and contracts, as applicable. The HPS I is responsible for taking the initiative to work collaboratively with internal and external partners and contribute to the development of stakeholder meetings, program work plans, informational materials, and reports.
