Executive Director for Elevate

ORGANIZATION AND POSITION OVERVIEW

Elevate’ s mission is to guide and empower individuals, families, and communities to effectively address substance use and mental health challenges. We are a resource for residents in Washington, Waukesha, Sheboygan, Dodge, Columbia, Marquette, Green Lake, and Fond du Lac counties. We accomplish our mission through collaboration of our internal staff with community organizations who benefit from our programming.

As the leader of the organization, the Executive Director implements the vision for achieving Elevate’s mission through the efforts of a diverse team of high-performing leaders, staff, and volunteers alike. The Executive Director is the driver of activities, developing and leveraging relationships and networks, and working across private, public, government and corporate sectors to improve conditions in the communities we serve. The Executive Director is effective at generating resources and financial support for the organization. The Executive Director is dedicated to shared and measurable goals for the common good – creating, resourcing, scaling, and leveraging strategies for broad investment and impact. The Executive Director is the steward of the Elevate brand and understands the responsibility of growing and protecting the reputation of Elevate. They are responsible for building trust in Elevate and its relevance in the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Mission Impact

  • Responsible for the overall impact of Elevate in the communities we serve. 
  • Works closely with the Board to craft and adapt strategies to achieve this impact, including raising the funds to support its programming. 
  • Establish and build relationships with top leaders in the community, including those representing the highest levels in business, government, foundations, donors, non-profit and public sectors.

Resource Development

  • Drives key results in fundraising.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new corporate partners.
  • Leverage personal and professional contacts and relationships into fundraising opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the staff and board level.

Strategic Direction

  • Serve as the principal resource to the Board of Directors and its key committees and gives strong direction in policy formulation and interpretation. 
  • Partners with the Board of Directors and the Senior Leadership team to craft organizational goals and develop strategies to ensure that they are achieved. 
  • Ensures coordination and alignment of Elevate is strategic direction in the areas of program impact, resource development, and staff alignment.

Organization Management

  • Be accountable for maintaining the positive workplace culture while building and leading high-performing teams and ensuring all teams are aligned and collaborating to achieve organizational results. 
  • Ensure that sound human resource practices are in place following all state and federal employment laws.
  • Ensure regular and open communication between administration and staff. 
  • Ensure that employees, stakeholders, clients, program participants and visitors are treated with dignity and respect.

Financial Oversight

  • Oversee revenue generating and fundraising activities to support long-term organizational sustainability while simultaneously building an operating reserve. 
  • Oversee the financial integrity of the organization including developing long and short-range financial plans, monitoring the budget, and ensuring financial controls are in place. 
  • Oversee the annual financial audit to ensure financial credibility with all current and future funding sources.

Executive Leadership 

  • Lead the organization with a high degree of transparency, high integrity, and collaborative leadership. 
  • Serve as the face of the organization and participates in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand. 
  • Communicate the story of Elevate, its mission and the services it offers through all media outlets, public speaking, newsletters, and any promotional materials relating to the organization.
  • Maintains a knowledge of the best practices and approaches the areas of mental and /or substance use recovery.
  • Act as a key administrator for all Federal and State required programs including all required organizational state and federal certifications and licensing.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 5 or more years of progressive leadership and significant relationship navigation experience.
  • Familiarity with a non-profit setting and contexts.
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and communication skills; Ability to interact with the community.
  • Desire and ability to garner resources and lead fund development.
  • Successful history of team building and retention of high performing staff.
  • Financial acumen as demonstrated by successful organization budget design and management.

The annual salary range for this executive position begins at $100,000.
