Lab Technician

The Lab Technician position is to assist Scientist and Research Specialist in preparing samples for chemical and postharvest analysis. The responsibilities a Lab Technician are the following:

  1. Conducting sample preparation, chemical extraction, and instrumental analysis for food quality traits in compliance with applicable protocols, methods/SOPs
  2. Conducting sample preparation and instrumental analysis for postharvest evaluation in compliance with applicable protocols, methods/SOPs
  3. Conducting sample collection and/or data collection in the field
  4. Record and maintain laboratory data collected during sample preparation and analysis
  5. Follow all safety precautions associated with QNA laboratory procedures and maintain lab safety
  6. Maintain inventory lists of samples, chemicals, and general lab supplies
  7. Maintain cleanliness of workspace, cold storage, laboratory equipment, glassware, etc.

Minimum education: 

  1. Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, food science, postharvest technology, biochemistry, or biology is preferred. 
  2. High School Diploma with 1-2 years lab experience will be considered.
