Air Pollution Specialist

This position can be located in Sacramento or Riverside County.
 

The Mobile Source Control Division is seeking a passionate, conscientious, and inquisitive Air Pollution Specialist to join the Advanced Emission Control Strategies Section. Under the direction of an Air Resources Supervisor I, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing regulatory measures that accelerate the deployment of zero- and near zero-emission technology in heavy-duty vehicles and off-road equipment. Duties could include, but are not limited to, meeting and corresponding regularly with industry stakeholders, trade associations, environmental groups, other governmental agencies, and the public; reviewing scientific and technical literature; analyzing operations, cost, and emission data; managing and overseeing test programs, studies, and surveys; developing regulatory concepts and working with management to evaluate such concepts; generating a variety of reports, briefing papers, speeches, email and letter responses, and presentations; making recommendations based on thorough analysis of relevant technical, economic, and policy-based information; and following regulatory proposals through the public Board hearing process. Other duties could include advising and supporting other CARB units on the implementation of existing advanced-technology measures, both regulatory and incentive-based. 

The Mobile Source Control Division is responsible for developing and implementing statewide measures to reduce the emission of smog-forming pollutants, greenhouse gases, and toxics from mobile sources.
