The Wisconsin Lottery is a for-profit consumer products business within state government that sells its products via a network of nearly 4,000 retailers with more than $900 million in annual sales. The Lottery provides property tax relief to Wisconsin homeowners through the sale of lottery games while operating with integrity, security, and social responsibility. This position is located in Madison, at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Remote/Telework up to 60%. Note: During the first year you can gradually increase up to 60% based on performance and workload needs. This position will be headquartered at the State Revenue Building, 2135 Rimrock Road, Madison, Wisconsin.

Position Summary

In conjunction with Lottery sales staff and the gaming system vendor, this position works with Lottery retailers and applicants by providing information, guidance, problem resolution, and other services relating to Lottery Retailer Contracting and Financial Services. 

This position will assist with activities relating to contracting such as new applications, renewals, and discontinuations, as well as monitoring for adherence to state statutes and guidelines. This position will also assist with critical financial functions including the weekly Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) billing, performing adjustments as needed, and assisting with financial reporting for internal and external customers. You will spend most of your time performing the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction by promptly answering calls and emails from current or potential retailers to ensure a timely start-up and optimization of sales, responding to retailer questions, resolving problems without delay, and following up on items through the use of GEM Intelligence and the gaming system.
  • Review the performance of the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) billing and adjustments function for instant and online games for both for-profit and non-profit retailers.

Salary Information

Starting salary will be between $29.86 and $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits. For information on state benefits click here.  Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions for the compensation plan for Lottery Services Specialist 07-03. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have experience with each of the following:

  • Providing customer service to diverse audiences by phone, writing, and/or in person.
  • Utilizing computer programs and software (such as Microsoft Office Suite) for report production, and document creation.
  • Explaining complex information.
  • Reviewing documents for compliance (such as policies or procedures).
     

Well-qualified candidates will also have:

  • Experience using a variety of complex automated systems or web-based proprietary software (e.g. Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Business Intelligence, PeopleSoft, Enterprise Services (ES) Gaming Software). 
  • Experience reviewing and/or approving work for quality.
  • Lottery-specific customer service experience (such as answering questions, providing information, explaining procedures, or similar) as a lottery employee or retailer.

 

Effective computer skills will also be evaluated at a later stage in the selection process.
