Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (Department) is offering an exciting position within the Habitat Conservation Planning Branch's Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA) Program where you will collaborate with colleagues across the state, assist with data management and analysis, participate in coordination and outreach, and be part of a program that helps protect California's diverse fish, wildlife, plants, and habitats. This position provides a unique opportunity to exercise your critical thinking skills while diving head-first into law and policy, permitting, data management, and much more.

Duties include working collaboratively with Department headquarters and regional staff on development and implementation of the LSA Program, managing and analyzing data and other information related to LSA Agreements, providing support for the Environmental Permit Information Management System (EPIMS), and facilitating meetings and outreach workgroups. Overall, this job provides an incredible opportunity to contribute to the Department's role in ensuring the protection of California's rivers, lakes, and streams while furthering our mission to manage California's diverse fish, wildlife, and plant resources, and the habitats upon which they depend, for their ecological values and for their use and enjoyment by the public.
 

This position is a 12 month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

 

If you currently have permanent status in your position and have passed probation, you have mandatory reinstatement rights into your former position at the end of this LT appointment. If you have not had prior permanent or probationary civil service status, you will be separated from state service.

 

During this 12-month Limited Term assignment, you will receive full health, dental, and vision benefits! You will also earn State Service and accrue monthly leave credits.

Working Conditions

The position requires the use of a computer for several hours each day, the completion of office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking to other locations; attendance at meetings and participation in videoconferencing calls. This position allows for an in-office/telework hybrid work schedule and in-office attendance may change based on operational need. The headquarters office building is located in West Sacramento with free parking.
