Harmonium was established in 1975 through an enterprising blend of vision and necessity to respond to Mira Mesa's rapidly growing need for juvenile diversion services. We continue to shape our mission, goals and services by listening to the needs of neighborhoods, individuals and families.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that reaches more than 30,000 San Diegans a year and offer a wide array of innovative and customized program services to over 5,000 children, youth, and families each day throughout San Diego County. JOB DESCRIPTION.
Help shape a better world for our youth in San Diego. We are looking for a youth leader sub who exudes creativity and resilience to create an environment for youth that inspires, motivates, and engages youth. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a drive to help them realize their fullest potential. If you are aspiring to become a teacher, social worker or are interested in a childcare-related career, this position is a great place to start.
We welcome those just starting out in their education/childcare career as well as those who are experienced in the field. We are currently looking for a part-time (PM shift) candidate to sub at a variety of school sites throughout San Diego, CA.
JOB COMPLEXITY.
- Supervise day-to-day activities of youth in the program
- Lead enriching activities such as interactive games and arts & crafts
- Uncover new and engaging ways to assist youth with homework
- Provide assistance/coverage at multiple locations throughout San Diego
MINIMUM COMPETENCIES.
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have 6 months experience in either an after school program OR group child care setting
- Must have 48 completed college units OR pass the District’s Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (a basic math and literacy test)
- Must have a valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification upon hire
- Ability to travel throughout the county with the flexibility required to meet job duties
COMPENSATION.

Starting Rate: $20.85 per hour (all new hires begin at starting salary regardless of experience)
