Job Title: Land Activities Instructors (Lacrosse, Field Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball, Basketball, Archery, Rock Climbing, Gymnastics, Gardening, Cardio Boot Camp, Runners Club, Yoga, or Aerobics).

Location: Camp Fernwood, Poland, Maine

Position Type: Seasonal (Summer) June 13, 2025 to August 7th, 2025 (8 weeks).

Overview:
Camp Fernwood is looking for enthusiastic and dynamic Land Activities Instructors to lead a variety of outdoor programs and engage campers in fun, active, and creative land-based activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor education and a commitment to fostering teamwork and personal growth among campers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Outdoor Activities: Organize and supervise activities such as hiking, archery, sports, team-building games, arts and crafts, and nature exploration for campers of all ages.
  • Safety First: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by conducting safety briefings, maintaining equipment, and following camp safety protocols.
  • Instruct and Facilitate: Teach techniques and skills related to various land activities, encouraging camper participation and helping them develop new skills.
  • Promote Teamwork: Foster a spirit of collaboration and friendship among campers, encouraging teamwork through group activities and challenges.
  • Plan Engaging Programs: Develop and implement creative and engaging lesson plans that cater to different age groups and interests, ensuring a diverse range of activities.
  • Maintain Equipment: Oversee the maintenance and organization of equipment used for land activities, ensuring everything is in safe working order.
  • Communicate with Parents: Provide updates to parents about their child’s progress and participation in land activities during camp sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience teaching or leading outdoor activities, preferably in a camp or educational setting.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with campers, parents, and staff, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage groups of campers effectively.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with other instructors to create a cohesive and engaging camp experience.
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check and adhere to camp policies and procedures.
