Talent Acquisition Intern

About the Governor's Summer Internship Program (GSI):

The Governor’s Summer Internship Program (GSI) is designed to give college students real-world, hands-on experience in their desired field of study to enhance marketability upon graduation. Participation in the program will offer students a multitude of experiences including networking with state employees, resume building and soft skills workshops, agency head panels, and much more.

 

The intern will be tasked with responsibilities and projects related to Talent Acquisition and will have the ability to job shadow or work on tasks/projects with our SPD Field HR Generalists and/or other divisions.


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.24 per hour.

 

A Day in the Life:

 

  • Responsible for creating a recruitment plan for the next round of interns
  • Work hands-on with different agencies throughout the state
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of the Governor's Summer Internship Program
  • Learning opportunities through Lunch & Learns, attending events, and job shadowing
  • Assist with applicant screening, background checks, offer letters, and agency questions regarding the employment process
  • Opportunity to learn about and participate in the interview process through phone and in-person interviews
  • Intern newsletter and assistance with social media as it pertains to Talent Acquisition
  • YouTube video based on internship for use as a marketing tool for future internships
  • ‘Niche’ Sourcing Techniques – Research how other states and companies recruit specific hard-to-fill and contact organizations that can supply interested candidates
  • Assist the State Personnel Department with the coordination of the Indiana Black Expo
  • Succession Planning
  • Assist with behind-the-scenes preparation for Performance Management

What You'll Need for Success:

 

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
  • Academic work in related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline 
  • Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels 
  • Ability to conduct well-informed research
  • Ability to solve complex, critical problems
  • Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
