Part-Time Communications Associate

Job Title: Part-Time Communications Associate 

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid option available) 
Reports To: Communications Director 

 

Position Summary 

The Brooklyn Tech Alumni Foundation seeks a detail-oriented and creative Part-Time Communications Associate to support the Communications Director in managing the Foundation’s digital communications. This role is essential for maintaining an engaging online presence, ensuring consistent communication with our community, and tracking the performance of our digital outreach efforts. 

The Communications Associate will primarily focus on updating the website, creating and distributing digital newsletters and eblasts, and tracking analytics to improve outreach strategies. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Website Management 

Regularly update and maintain the Foundation’s website, ensuring all content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the Foundation’s mission and goals. 

Collaborate with other departments to gather content for updates. 

Email and Newsletter Distribution 

Compile, design, and schedule digital newsletters and eblasts using email marketing platforms. 

Ensure all communications are visually appealing, on-brand, and free of errors. 

Analytics Tracking and Reporting 

Monitor and track website traffic and engagement metrics using tools like Google Analytics. 

Track email open rates, click-through rates, and other key performance indicators. 

Content Coordination 

Assist in sourcing, editing, and organizing content for digital communications, including stories, photos, and alumni updates. 

Ensure all materials are formatted correctly for both web and email platforms. 

Collaboration 

Work closely with the Communications Director to execute strategic communication plans. 

 

Qualifications 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 

Experience: 

1–2 years of experience in digital communications, marketing, or a related field, including internships. 

Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress). 

Familiarity with email marketing platforms, (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact). 

Familiarity with Almabase preferred.  

Proficiency in tracking and analyzing web and email analytics using tools like Google Analytics and email platform dashboards. 

Strong writing and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail. 

Basic graphic design skills are a plus (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite). 

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 

Familiarity with nonprofit organizations or education-related initiatives is a plus. 

 

What We Offer 

Hourly rate is between $25 to $40 depending on  

Flexible work schedule (estimated 16–24 hours per week).
