At Dress for Success Austin, we’re on the lookout for bright, dynamic, and motivated interns to join our expanding team of community advocates and local changemakers.
Interning with us provides a unique chance to connect with professionals from over 100 nonprofit and government organizations in the Austin area. Our program offers hands-on experience in various areas, including communications, marketing, event planning, client relations, and data analysis, giving interns a comprehensive view of the nonprofit sector.
As part of the internship, interns will also receive a styling appointment to receive two professional outfits, enhancing their professional appearance as they build valuable experience.
All internship opportunities are unpaid and in-person in South Austin on Tuesdays/Thursdays between 9:30am - 4:00pm. If an intern stays for more than one semester, they are eligible to apply for a stipend for the second semester. Credit is not required but we can provide documentation if needed.
CLIENT SERVICES INTERN
The Client Services Intern will assist the Client Services Administrator in delivering outstanding support and service to our clients. This role involves collaborating with staff, volunteers, interns, and clients, offering a valuable opportunity to learn about client interaction, service strategies, and the operations of a client services environment.

Responsibilities:
- Client Interaction: Assist in responding to client inquiries via phone, email, or chat in a professional and timely manner; educate clients about additional Dress for Success Austin programs and services; be comfortable stepping in as a volunteer Professional Stylist
- Administrative: Greet and check-in clients for in person appointments; assist with virtual & in-person appointment scheduling.
- Support: Help with preparation and delivery of client reports and other materials.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client data and interactions in our CRM system (HubSpot).
- Coordination: Support the Programs team with scheduling client meetings, managing client follow-ups, and coordinating between different departments.
- Problem-Solving: Aid in resolving client issues and concerns by gathering information, escalating problems when necessary, and ensuring satisfactory resolution.
- Learning: Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and other activities to gain a thorough understanding of client service processes and best practices.
Basic Requirements:
- Currently enrolled college student
- Self-starter
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to effectively organize and present information in group settings, both formal and informal
- Ability to thrive in a high-paced work environment, while maintaining procedural and
ethical integrity
- Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week
- Must be able to work from our office in South Austin on Tuesdays/Thursdays between 9:30am- 4:00pm
- Some Saturday mornings will be requested (no more than once a month)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Positive, proactive and ability to exercise great judgment and common sense
- Sensitivity to diverse client backgrounds
- Resourceful, as well as the ability to locate various resources for clients
- Previous experience working or volunteering with nonprofits
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus!
