Our mission is to empower women+ to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life.
At Dress for Success Austin, we’re on the lookout for bright, dynamic, and motivated interns to join our expanding team of community advocates and local changemakers.
Interning with us provides a unique chance to connect with professionals from over 100 nonprofit and government organizations in the Austin area. Our program offers hands-on experience in various areas, including communications, marketing, event planning, client relations, and data analysis, giving interns a comprehensive view of the nonprofit sector.
As part of the internship, interns will also receive a styling appointment to receive two professional outfits, enhancing their professional appearance as they build valuable experience.
All internship opportunities are unpaid and in-person in South Austin on Tuesdays/Thursdays between 9:30am - 4:00pm. If an intern stays for more than one semester, they are eligible to apply for a stipend for the second semester. Credit is not required but we can provide documentation if needed.

SUSTAINABLE FASHION INTERN
Reporting directly to our Inventory Coordinator, the Sustainable Fashion Intern will assist with keeping our boutique organized and stocked. They will also assist with scheduling, curation, promotion of sustainable clothing markets in Austin, including our in-person sales. *This role will be required to be at our office in South Austin on Tuesdays/Thursdays between 9:30am-4pm and may include attendance at donations or sales events on off days, as needed.* APPLY VIA HANDSHAKE OR EMAIL RESUME TO HALEY@DRESSFORSUCCESSAUSTIN.ORG.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Assist with inventory, including sorting, curating, organizing, and pricing; create more efficient ways of managing inventory; notify staff about inventory needs
- Pop-Up Markets: Assist with pop-up markets including application process, scheduling, curation, promotion, in-person sales and setup/breakdown
- E-Commerce: Assist with e-commerce site, including uploading and posting items, shipping and keeping site up to date
- Client Interaction: Get to know our client base and be comfortable stepping into various volunteering roles, as needed
- Training: Be a resource to volunteers regarding inventory management and sorting; assist with developing inventory tasks for volunteer groups
- Documentation: Update documents relating to inventory management including inventory lists and instructions for donation sorting days
- Learning: Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and other activities to gain a thorough understanding of program processes and best practices.
Basic Requirements:
- Must be a current student seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Positive, proactive and ability to exercise great judgment and common sense
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
- Creative problem-solver
- Interest in sustainable fashion and fashion merchandising
- Detailed planning, time management and organizational skills
- Strong verbal/written communication
- Ability to take initiative and manage projects with little supervision
- Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week on site and off site (in person market events), including weekends
- Must be able to work from our office in South Austin on Tuesdays/Thursdays between 9:30am- 4:00pm
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong verbal/written communication
- Experience with social media management
- Interest in sustainable fashion and fashion merchandising
- Experience in customer service roles, specifically retail or sales
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to take initiative and manage projects with little supervision
- Photography experience
