Human Resource Advisor - Business Partner

Kind of Work

Responsible, professional Human Resources work serving as an HR Business Partner to three assigned county departments. 

Distinguishing Features of Work

An employee in this class is responsible for providing professional human resources work in an assigned program area.  Duties include advising staff on county policies and procedures, Civil Service rules and laws, and collective bargaining agreement provisions, recruitment and assessment, benefits, classification and compensation, reasonable accommodations, performance management, business systems and records maintenance, and training and development.  The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

Selection Process

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Human Resources Advisor (Pass/Fail):

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, management, public administration, or closely related field; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree and one (1) year full-time paid verifiable professional human resources experience as determined appropriate by the Director of Human Resources and Administration.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Human Resources Senior Advisor (Pass/Fail):

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, management, public administration, or closely related field AND four (4) years full-time paid verifiable professional human resources experience; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years full-time paid verifiable professional human resources experience as determined equivalent by the Director of Human Resources and Administration.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Note: At the discretion of the hiring authority, the successful candidate may be considered for appointment at the Human Resources Advisor or Human Resources Senior Advisor level, contingent on minimum qualifications and department need. This would be determined at the time a job offer is extended.
