After-School Tutor (Math & ELA) – Voice Charter School Partnership

 Location: 36-24 12th St, Long Island City, NY 11106
 Dates: February 3 – April 24, 2025
 Schedule:

  • Monday – Thursday, 3:30 – 5:30 PM
  • Winter Break (Feb 17–21): Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Applicants may work all days or a minimum of two days per week

About the Role:

Tariq’s Class LLC is seeking college students to work as tutors for our after-school program at Voice Charter School. Tutors will provide NY State Test Prep in Math and ELA for students in Grades 3-8. This is a great opportunity for those passionate about education and looking for hands-on teaching experience!

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Math and ELA concepts aligned with the NY State Test curriculum
  • Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning and improve skills
  • Provide engaging and supportive instruction to help students succeed
  • Track student progress and communicate with the program coordinator
  • Maintain a positive and structured learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in college (Education majors preferred, but all majors welcome)
  • Strong proficiency in Math and ELA (Grades 3-8 level)
  • Experience working with students (tutoring, mentoring, or teaching assistant experience is a plus)
  • Passion for education and student success
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
