Industrial Engineer Emerging Leaders Internship

What are the details for the program?

The Emerging Leaders Internship program is a paid summer internship for students who are currently in their 3rd or 4th year in a bachelor's program that are interested in future full-time opportunities at American Signature. This year’s Internship program will be Hybrid – students will need to be in our Columbus, OH offices 2-3 days a week.

The program lasts for 9 weeks and includes core functional work, special projects, and leadership development. Our program’s goal is to attract and prepare these students for future opportunities within our organization

 What kinds of training opportunities are available within the program?

Outside of core project work, interns have the opportunity to take advantage of the learning and development programs American Signature offers. We encourage interns to invest in themselves and grow their personal and professional skills. Through our internship program, we offer a professional development series, leadership speaker series, and community building activities to connect with team members all over the company. 

As the Industrial Engineering Intern, you will:

  • Work with management to resolve organizational, production and related problems by studying work processes, product, and environment.
  • Learn about creating leaner, more efficient and more profitable business practices and processes.
  • Learn about developing labor/time standards for DC’s/HDC’s by performing motion and time studies.
  • Learn about developing methods to improve work environment and improve efficiencies.
  • Coordinate projects for new DC’s/HDC’s that remodel or restructure existing DC’s/HDC’s.
  • Develop prototype warehouse plans based on capacity, product and process.
  • Learn about Engineer processes and systems to improve quality and productivity

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Working towards Bachelors degree in Retail,  Business, Merchandising or related field
  • 3.0 GPA or higher

  • Internship or work experience
  • Campus involvement and leadership experience
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proactive approach; identifies and solves problems
  • Adaptability; flexible to changing market forces and shifting priorities
  • Knowledge of Industrial Engineering and/or Engineering related discipline
    Effective statistical analysis skills
    Effective research and communication skills
  • Current student enrolled in a degreed college/university program (could add “in industrial engineering program or related field”)
