Department of Tax Administration Internship - May-August 2025

**This is a Summer Internship intended for College Students**

Agency: Department of Tax Administration
Term: 3 months (mid-May thru mid-August) 
Hours: 30 hours per week between 8:00-4:30 pm
Salary: $21.73 - $23.37 per hour
Location: Government Center, Suite 226

Application deadline for March 31st. 
Appointee will be notified approximately 2nd or 3rd week of April. 

Assist taxpayers with the various services offered by the county, such as assessments and payment of individual personal property taxes, real estate taxes, business, county vehicle registration, and parking tickets. Exercises independent judgment and initiative in applying and interpreting complex tax regulations, procedures, and instructions to the public. Provides accurate and courteous responses to citizens relating to assessment, billing, and collections of all tax types. Research various computer systems and local tax records pertaining to citizens and businesses. 

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation.

  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Special Requirements:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Note: This position may not exceed 1560 hours per calendar year. Individuals in this position are eligible for limited employee benefits (including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage) and participation in flexible spending programs. However, they are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay. This summer internship is for college students. It starts in mid-May and runs until mid-August before the school year begins. The recruitment process generally commences in April.
