Position Summary:
We’re seeking a passionate and skilled freelance writer with a background in journalism and a love for baseball. This role is ideal for someone eager to tell compelling stories at the high school and collegiate levels throughout the summer months. Current college students are encouraged to apply.
Writers are paid per story.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cover high school and college baseball games, tournaments, and events throughout June, July, and August in the Philadelphhia-area.
- Write game recaps, player features, and human-interest pieces with a narrative focus.
- Conduct interviews with coaches, players, and league officials.
- Submit clean, publish-ready copy on deadline.
- Coordinate with the editorial team regarding story assignments and scheduling.
- Occasionally provide social content or quick-hitting pieces for breaking news.
Requirements:
- Strong writing, interviewing, and reporting skills.
- Understanding of baseball terminology, rules, and game flow.
- Ability to travel to local fields and campuses across the Philadelphia region.
- Availability on nights and weekends as needed.
- Comfortable working independently and meeting tight deadlines.

- Experience shooting photos or video.
- Familiarity with Philadelphia-area baseball programs.
- Previous experience in digital publishing or content management systems.
