Position Summary
Responsible for performing both the duties of serving as a pilot and a maintenance mechanic for the aircraft flown by Missionary Flights International
Essential Functions:
- Formulate a flight plan taking into accordance aircraft performance, altitude, fuel, and weather
- Conduct all pre-flight checks of engines, radar, navigation systems, etc to ensure safety.
- Communicate with air traffic control to request for landing and take off, or report any information on the flight plan.
- Check all the cockpit instruments to ensure proper functioning.
- Ensure the cargo does not exceed the aircraft’s weight limits.
- Observe the weather conditions, aircraft position, and air traffic regularly during the flight and request for a change of flight plan if needed.
- Collaborate with flight attendants to ensure passengers are following all the rules and regulations onboard.
- File reports of the flight trip and status of aircraft before and after landing.
- Implementing and adhering to strict safety guidelines.
- Creating and maintaining repair logs and records.
- Using hand tools, diagnostic tests, and gauges to identify hydraulic and mechanical malfunctions.
- Collaborating with maintenance specialists to ensure that all aircraft systems are running correctly.
- Preparing diagnostics reports and suggesting repair solutions based on thorough evaluations.
- Ensuring that all aircraft parts are accurately labeled, organized, and restored.
Skills and Knowledge
- Must hold at least a commercial multi-engine pilot certificate and instrument rating
- Recommended to have 500 hours of total flight time, including 50 hours in a tail-wheel aircraft
- Strong working knowledge of the FAR Part 125 rules and regulations
- Requires the minimum of a high school diploma (or GED) [Bachelor’s in Aviation or Aviation Technician is preferred] or a combination of education and experience
- At least 18 months experience on airframes or power plants, OR, 30 months of combined experience OR, graduate from an FAA-approved school with an A & P certification
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and possess strong analytical, trouble shooting skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- 20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 for pilots
- Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, climb a ladder,
- Possess a good sense of balance and not afraid of heights
- Ability to hear and see clearly
- Ability to sit for 2-4 hours while performing flight duties
- Strong manual dexterity to perform job duties
- Must be able to routinely lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Work is performed in a non-air-conditioned hangar environment as well as at foreign ports
