Position Summary
Evaluates, plans, and administers prescribed physical therapy treatments to patients with injuries or musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. The goal is to restore function, reduce pain, and promote independence. Direct care providers must demonstrate competencies relevant to the population served.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program
Licensed Physical Therapist in good standing in the State of Michigan
BLS certification (required within 3 months of hire)
Proficient keyboarding skills for electronic documentation
Strong interpersonal communication and English language skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a clinical setting
Physical & Mental Demands
Standing, walking, and regular lifting (up to 20 lbs); assistance with patient movement
Tasks may cause visual/mental fatigue and require attention to detail
Some minor physical strain and repetitive motions required
Clinical Responsibilities
Evaluate patients’ functional abilities using standardized tests
Develop treatment goals and care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
Deliver direct patient care through individual/group therapy
Educate patients, families, and the community
Participate in hospital rounds, clinics, and program development
May fabricate splints or adaptive equipment
Lead or participate in in-services and student education
Provide cross-coverage across Rehab Services if needed
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the EHR
Communicate documentation barriers to leadership
Participate in committees, task forces, and process improvement efforts
Demonstrate strong time management
Supervise PTA, Rehab Clinical Assistants, students, volunteers, and athletic trainers
