AssuredPartners

Property & Casualty Intern

May - August 2024 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

I liked how everyone in the office was very nice and always wanted to help. Don't be afraid to ask questions and be curious. I also enjoyed the National Internship Program. Every week there were executive speakers and they talked about their journey through AP and why AP is so special. They all worked in different departments so it was interesting to hear multiple perspectives. We also had an I2I project, that consisted of a group of five to six people, in which we tried to find and solve a real problem within AP. This was a really fun project that all teams presented at the end of the internship.

What I wish was different

Some days were a little slower then others but you can always learn more by looking and learning policies or using AP University to learn different skills such as Excel or behavior skills. You can also go up to almost anyone in the office and ask if they need help, most of the time they will give you something to do.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions. The insurance industry can be pretty complex at times and you will not always know the answer. The mentors and everyone else in the office are always there for you and will support you in any way possible.

Sales Executive Intern

June - August 2021 • Greenville, SC

What I liked

AssuredPartners is an incredible company to work for. The company invests in its employees and provides the support needed to succeed in such a competitive industry. AP has developed and enhanced their national internship program to connect the interns across all locations, provide trainings and certifications, host competitions throughout the summer, and allow interns to network with several employees in every department. The company has prioritized investing in young professionals who will one day be in the insurance field.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more confidence going into the internship because I know I would have gotten more out of the experience. I sometimes was too timid to ask for help or ask to be included on more meetings for further experience. This is an internship where you get out what you put in, so being able to take the initiative to learn all that you can is crucial.

Advice

My advice is to ask questions! Learn the art of asking the right questions. Also, take the initiative and ask to be included on meeting, to sit with others while they are making their calls, and to meet with top performers in the company to learn first-hand. It is a great, yet short internship, so don't take and experience or person for granted.

Sales Executive Intern

May - August 2019 • Lake Mary, FL

What I liked

The AP Lake Mary team included the interns in everything— from carrier meetings to policy viewings, etc. Every person there wanted us to learn and get the most of our summer internship experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had the opportunity to learn more about the insurance industry beforehand. It would’ve made diving into my work a lot easier and could’ve expanded my knowledge and experience.

Advice

Network. Network. Network. You meet so many different people from different companies within the insurance industry. Ask questions and figure out how those people got to where they are now and what advice they could give you.
