Audit Intern

July - August 2018 • Beijing, China

What I liked

I like to work as a part of team with people from diverse background. I got to speak and communicate with the client company's people, trying to understand how their business work, and at the same time question myself whether the number on their financial statements match the detailed records. I also like the environment of learning since I can get feedbacks from what I see as improvements that can make, and my client would certainly be appreciate with that.

What I wish was different

I wish I could get to know more about other related industry such as management consulting, finance, etc.

Advice

Be well-prepared for the fast-paced environment. It's challenging but you always get a chance to learn technical skills, to meet new people, to build your own network, to develop yourself in a professional way.

Audit Intern

June - August 2018 • Princeton, NJ

What I liked

It was an amazing experience doing real, hands on work. I worked with professionals that were patient with me and eager to help me succeed. Deloitte has given me so many incredible opportunities and I can't wait to see where my future takes me with this company!

What I wish was different

Although I loved my engagement team and the client I was assigned to, I wish I had the opportunity to work for different clients to get a better understanding of what I am passionate about.

Advice

Don't be intimated because Deloitte is one of the Big Fours. I have heard from a lot of Ramapo students that since they go to a small school, they will not like working at a big company. I am so happy that I took the risk and applied for Deloitte because the rewards have been endless. I honestly could not have chosen a better company to start my career with!

Audit Intern

June - August 2017 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I loved how the culture around interns is, you feel valued and a part of the team, not like the bottom of the food chain. You have lots of networking events where you will find more than half the partners of the firm attending. They are interested in getting to know the newcomers and will take the time out of their day to have lunch with the interns and meet them. The team I was assigned felt very united and comfortable working together, I didn't know what to expect since Deloitte is a large company but they made a great effort at making sure everyone feels welcomed. We got to spend a couple days in Texas at Deloitte University which was an incredible facility and experience, they have all the tools to ensure they give you everything you need to be successful. One of the great parts is the on-boarding buddy and mentors you are assigned at the beginning, they are your go-to for everything and really help the process of starting a new job and getting acclimated.

What I wish was different

In all honestly, I had a great experience and I couldn't really point out one more thing that could have better except wishing I could have worked longer than 8 weeks.

Advice

Do the most that you can. Take advantage of every networking and social event to meet all the people in the firm. Reach out to managers and partners, ask them if they want to get lunch with you one day, chances are if they're not busy they would love too, and this is the best way to get hands on one on one knowledge about the company you might work for.
