What I liked

Enterprise gave me the tools to be my own boss. I learned how to handle difficult situations and how to make my own decisions.

What I wish was different

I only wish I would have had more home city experience as I was in the airport location however I did get to gain that experience after this summer.

Advice

Put your all into this job and it will reward you. Ask questions and don't be afraid to speak up.

Management Trainee Intern

June - August 2019 • Fairfax, VA

What I liked

I loved the face-to-face customer service aspect of the job. The job training was rigorous and informative and taught me a lot about sales and customer relationship management. I was able to shadow top executives and understand the business.

What I wish was different

The hours started very early which was hard to get used to.

Advice

Apply anywhere and take all the interviews that you can. I was not expecting to be so interested in a rental-car internship, however, I took the interview and it ended up being a great experience.

Senior Customer Assistance Representative

May - October 2019 • Hanover, MD

What I liked

Enterprise Holdings is an amazing company that gives you the opportunity to grow and start forming a future for yourself. They don't only take business majors because they really look for people with sales experience or experience working on a team. Most of my coworkers had been college athletes so they were competitive when it came to sales but they were dedicated to teamwork. Almost all my coworkers were Management Trainees or Management Assistants which are jobs people can get at the company when they come out of college. So I really got to see firsthand what it would be like working at Enterprise after college, and I also really got to see how management works. Also, Enterprise is a company that is a big about hiring within so I felt immensely supported by my coworkers and management, especially when everyone encouraged me to apply for internship at the company.

What I wish was different

The only thing I can say is that I wish my position could have been considered an internship. They only take on rising seniors as interns and I was a rising junior. This is the reason I had the seasonal role of a Senior Customer Assistance Representative (SCAR) instead of an intern. If I had been allowed to intern I would have been able to complete my internship requirement instead of waiting another year. Even so, I'm not upset I get to go back to the company next summer.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions and ask for feedback. Over the course of a couple months my coworkers and management started to feel like real friends and supporters. Managers are always willing to sit down and figure out how you can improve sales or what is or isn't working for you.

Management Trainee - Intern

May - August 2019 • Grapevine, TX

What I liked

I loved everything about my internship with Enterprise! The work environment was fast-paced with some of the best staff you could ask for. Everyone is routing for each other and helping each other move up in their careers with the company. Overall a wonderful experience.

What I wish was different

I wish that the computer software had been a little different. Learning the software and understanding how it navigate it was a problem for me in the beginning but like everything, it just takes a little practice.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions. Asking questions could be the make or break point for many interns because of the amount of information that you need to learn in such a short time. Asking questions is the best way to learn the quickest and become the best.

Management Trainee Intern

May 2019 • Lubbock, TX

What I liked

I love the in-depth learning experience on what it's like to run my own branch. There are also tons of opportunities beyond daily rental to look forward to, and the team environment is very uplifting and encouraging. The interns all divided into teams and worked on a cool video project based on our founding values.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a little more in-depth training on how to confront sticky situations, but I'm learning as I go!

Advice

Have some work experience, even if it's just waiting tables! The interpersonal experience you get from these little jobs will give you a headstart in your career.

Software Engineer Intern

May - July 2019 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

I loved getting to work with a small team of interns and employees on a dedicated project. I felt our project, an internal web application for the Risk Management division, was a cohesive product with a driven purpose and a tangible end result.

What I wish was different

Due to lack of space I was not able to work in a space close to my team, which resulted in lots of chatting over Skype. We managed to get a lot done with this method of communication, but being able to work together in person could have probably made some tasks go much quicker.

Advice

I would tell other interns not to be afraid to ask for help! Everyone I worked with is super kind and willing to help with any question, no matter how trivial you might think it is.

Management Intern

May - August 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I liked my work environment the most. I had a great team at my branch in phoenix who were super upbeat and supportive while I worked there.

What I wish was different

I wish I didn’t have to be outside as much wearing all black while selling to customers. Also washjng cars and getting my nice business clothes wet and dirty, especially my shoes was annoying. Some customers were quite rude and treated me like some kid and not a professional.

Advice

It was worth it overall. So don’t get discouraged by the washing cars sometimes and customers attitudes towards you. I learned a ton about business in general and had good training in sales techniques and some management metrics for performance.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2018 • Glen Ellyn, IL

What I liked

I liked the way that, as interns, we were immersed into the business and were treated like full-time employees in the branches in which we worked at.

What I wish was different

I wish the daily tasks were slightly more diversified , and we had the ability to experience different aspects of the company. The other downside came, in part, due to the fact that we were treated like full-timers. The others employees I worked alongside, undermined myself as a worker and/or took advantage of my time and work as an intern. This would have been okay, except for the fact that we were told we would be treated as full-time employees.

Advice

It was a good business and management experience, however, it seemed to me that it was fairly limited in the ways that different principles of business could be learned and addressed.

Management Trainee Intern

May - August 2018 • Frisco, TX

What I liked

The management trainee program helps students gain real-world experience. Interns learn how to improve their communication and customer service skills. The internship is very fast-paced and there is so much that one can gain from this experience. I also enjoyed the cool events hosted for interns.

What I wish was different

I wish that I did not have to take a test at the end of my internship, it was very challenging and I did not receive the preparation that I needed for it.

Advice

As an intern you will face various challenges, do not let that discourage you. Just be ready to work hard and try your best.

intern

May - August 2018 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I got to train and mentor a new Manager-in-Training and two Assistant Managers . During this internship I mastered superior sales techniques and customer service skills. It was a great internship to network and see a whole different side of what providing a service is all about.

What I wish was different

During this internship the managers were not as professional as I would have liked them to be. They also had a lot of internal problems and that affected the business significantly. The pay was fair and the training was great but the company needs more micromanaging with their interns. Many times a lot of employees did not have any idea of what they were suppose to do with the interns.

Advice

Great internship to start with, but I would not recommend if you are not into sales or customer service. The Human Resources folks will try to tell you that you will learn different accounting and finance skills that will help you. However, during my whole internship we did not do anything other than customer service and selling insurance.
