Customer Accounts

May - August 2019 • Elgin, IL

What I liked

I got to work with people I already knew, which made it fun to go into work. They held many competitions amongst the employees for rewards which kept me motivated to perform my best.

What I wish was different

My hours were not the same everyday, and I would’ve liked them to be.

Advice

It is not an easy job. Many came and left within a week. You had to talk on the phone with a lot of angry people, so you have to be able handle people yelling at you.

Engine Line Engineering Co-op

January - July 2019 • Anna, OH

What I liked

I like all the resources the company had to offer. There were suppliers located all over the plant and a large machine shop department that often made the parts I requested.

What I wish was different

I wish things were a little more laid back. Sometimes the seriousness of the company ruined my motivation to complete projects.

Advice

Honda takes their company very seriously. So if you're very passionate about cars and trucks, go for it, if not, you may want to check something else out.

I really liked the company and the environment. Everyone was very helpful and worked with me to make me better. I learned a lot and was able to lead some of the meetings with suppliers. All in all, I had a great experience.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to get out of the office a little more however I did get to take multiple plant tours that I found very fascinating.

What I liked

Fun, open workplace. Lots of opportunities to learn

What I wish was different

More opportunities to learn about the industry in general would have been nice

Advice

Go in willing to learn and make your own work because, at times, there won't be much work given to you. But that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't anything for you to do.

Quality Engineer

May - August 2023 • Lincoln, AL

What I liked

I enjoyed working with experienced Mechanical Engineers learning how to perform root cause analysis and tackling real ongoing problems in the Manufacturing process.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time with my mentor to discuss ways to improve my Project Management, thinking process, and complete certifications for Manufacturing Engineering.

Advice

Always look to network with other, because you never know how much experience or knowledge an individual may have. In any situation you should be open minded and ready to listen before tackling a problem. Moreover, it’s okay to not know something and tell your colleagues that you will gather further information on the subject.

Tire Technician, Valet, Greeter

June - August 2020 • O'Fallon, IL

What I liked

I enjoyed the ability to safely interact with customers during the pandemic, whether I was driving them or conversing as I did rotation/pressure checks. My coworkers and bosses were all very good.

What I wish was different

While most of my daily tasks were mundane and easy, every so often I was given an unpleasant task that did not seem to fit within my job description...such as cleaning up oil spills from a busted engine or cleaning bathrooms because of a fired janitorial staff.

Advice

I would encourage anyone to take a job like this. While I would not characterize this job as "physical labor", I was always on my feet and active. While some tasks were unpleasant they gave me an appreciation for those workers that do these jobs 40 hours per week or more.

Mechanical Engineer Co-op

August - December 2021 • Raymond, OH

What I liked

I was given ample responsibilities. I was trusted with a large individual project, and I never felt micromanaged throughout the process.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gained more exposure to everyday responsibilities of the various test groups. My project had little similarity - though relevant - to other projects occurring.

Advice

Speak up. The size of Honda can be very intimidating, as it was for me, but the more you speak with and build relationships with your coworkers, greater opportunities will come your way.
