-The opportunity to see what it is like to work for Amazon and fully dedicate oneself to raw factory work with goods to be shipped out to consumers around he state and country
-Starting salary for new workers who could choose the days to work
-Occasional free gifts and food offered by Amazon to their workers after or during work hours
What I wish was different
-There should have been more breaks besides one 25 minute break by your choice at whatever time for the rest of the 5 hour work day
-More communication needed from managers to new employers with equipment usage and general concerns like salary, sick-days, additional benefits, etc.
Advice
Hard work is not always paid off, but if you do your best, be friendly, keep looking forward, and concentrate on the task(s) at hand, you will be assured every situation will go well in not just your job, but life.

Software Development Engineering Intern
June - September 2021 • Palo Alto, CA
What I liked
It was a high-energy work environment, and the project itself was fairly interesting. I also felt like I was actually contributing meaningfully to my team, and that my work had impact.
What I wish was different
A little more ramp-up time. I struggled in the beginning because I did not fully understand the system I was working with but still was expected to present some deliverables in a short span of time.
Advice
Be proactive, particularly with your mentor and manager. Ask for feedback as soon as possible, and don't get blocked by any issues for too long (my mentor was generally very willing to help me when I was blocked). Amazon values people who can deliver results.

May - July 2021 • Coppell, TX
What I liked
I loved the people at Amazon, I have built a great relationship with my fellow senior managers and I have learned a lot about myself.
What I wish was different
I would have wished I had more 1 on 1's with my manager.
Advice
Do not be intimidated by the company or the people working there. Once you open up to others the amount of knowledge you can take in is surprisingly a lot.

Area Manager Intern
June - August 2021 • Fort Worth, TX
What I liked
I really enjoyed the project Senior Operations assigned me for the internship. I got the work on discovering the three root causes for their attrition and come up with three recommendations to reduce the attrition. Additionally, I really enjoyed my department, my manager really cared about my learning experience and ensuring I was comprehending a lot of aspects that go into Amazon warehouses.
What I wish was different
Making the onboarding experience a little more entertaining, not going to lie the first couple of days were very boring since you need to watch many videos regarding the warehouse, how it operates, safety protocol, and more.
Advice
This position is a 4 day 10-hour work schedule. I personally really liked this schedule because I got three days off. But for others, if you're not used to standing for 10 hours in a day with no sitting this will be an adjustment. I recommend buying comfortable shoes with extra padding. Utilize Amazon's communication channel, Chime, I wish I reached out to more people to learn about their Amazon experience. Also, this is a fast pace environment, so be ready to learn quickly and adjust to the business needs.

What I liked
Great experience with an agile team working on my own project the whole summer. Worked with AWS and learned a lot about the intricacies of that software as well. Great overall experience.
What I wish was different
The virtual aspect was definitely not super great because it prevented me from really getting to know my coworkers.
Advice
Reach out and network with as many people as possible, especially if you are virtual.

Area Manager Intern
June - July 2020 • Patterson, CA
What I liked
It was a virtual internship experience and the best part was getting to hear from some of Amazon's top executives now and from founding members of Amazons massive growth in its starting years.
Even not being onsite we got a good idea of what goes on and what will be expected of us in our full-time roles.
What I wish was different
I wish we could have at least visited a FC for a day, however, safety was their priority which is good. I wish we had the chance to make a more significant impact on the company during our internship.
Advice
Throughout the internship be your authentic self. Amazon is very passionate about its leadership principles and if you fit in with that culture you will thrive but if you don't it may be better for both parties that you be honest about it.

Program Mangement Intern

What I liked
Given real-world project and owned it. Was responsible for delivering it, figuring out what to do, and making sure it was sustainable
What I wish was different
I liked the amount of autonomy I had, however some additional guidance would've been nice.
Advice
Speak up! Amazon is a self-service company, but don't be afraid to reach out to your peers, other interns, coworkers, and other team members.

Amazon Associate
May - August 2020 • West Valley City, UT
What I liked
I really enjoyed learning how Amazon and mailing works. I also enjoyed the people that I met and the relationships I made.
What I wish was different
I wish that this job would have been more personal. I felt as though I was just a number.
Advice
It is very easy to get discouraged at an hourly 9 to 5 summer that's just for money but it was important for my to keep my end goal in mind. I am going into the professional CPD program at USU this semester which does not allow you to work, so I had to make enough money to live off of this summer. When I got discouraged I would just remember that I was working hard this summer to enjoy the year in my professional program.

July - August 2019 • Crest Hill, IL
What I liked
The pay was good, and it was a good workout. I lost weight and built muscle from all of the lifting and moving around the warehouse that I did.
What I wish was different
I wish we would have gotten longer breaks. We were on our feet for 5 hours straight, and if you worked doubles, you were on your feet for 10 hours straight. We only got one fifteen minute break per shift, which included time walking to the break room to sit down.
Advice
Making friends makes the time go by faster.

Marketing Specialist Intern
June - September 2019 • Seattle, WA
What I liked
It was a really good learning experience to be able to see how the marketing teams work behind the scenes at such a large company.
What I wish was different
They didn't have good communication after the internship ended, esp for non-tech interns. Full-time return offers were unclear, and even if an intern "passes" the final interviews, it does not guarantee placement post-grad. Return internship offers are guaranteed though!
Advice
Networking is so important, and the major(s) that you have don't necessarily have to determine the career path you want to take!

Delivery Associate
July - August 2019 • San Leandro, CA
What I liked
I liked the overall pay.
What I wish was different
I wish some of the managers treated me like a person. Their hours were also difficult since I would always be working 9-10 hours a day instead of a set time (although overtime pay was given). It was just a stressful experience since you never knew which city you were delivering in and not having a partner made the job a lot harder.
Advice
I only recommend this job if you wanted to make a decent amount of money quickly or if you feel like you could handle the stress of it. With the hours and pay, you could easily make over 40k a year.

Area Manager Intern
May - July 2019 • Chester, VA
What I liked
I got an inside look at how an Amazon FC works from top to bottom. I met a lot of cool people, from other interns, to associates, and managers at my building. I was also trusted with a lot of responsibility for day to day activities that kept the department running. There were new challenges and I learned something new every single day.
What I wish was different
I wish that the internship had more guidance and more structure. More information up front about the role, relocation, and the timeline of the internship would have been nice.
Advice
Even if it doesn't sound like something you would want to do as an internship or full time, just do it. It's only 10 weeks, the pay is solid, and its an invaluable experience to have on your resume.

Warehouse Associate
June 2019 • Grand Rapids, MI
What I liked
The positions in Amazon are easy to learn, and with shorter shifts, time goes by very quickly there! Being a smaller warehouse allows workers to grow strong relationships and get a full understanding of every step in the process.
What I wish was different
I wish that shifts weren’t locked in place because it’s difficult to have a classes revolve around a strict four day schedule unless you’re working third shift. Workers should be able to pick and choose days, but they are locked.
Advice
Amazon provides a great opportunity to clear your head & knock out some hands-on work with generous compensation. Everything you hear about their poor working conditions is with larger facilities that are difficult to manage, but at DGR1 (Amazon in Grand Rapids), the conditions are top notch for a warehouse. Well worth the paycheck!
